A vibrant new trend has swept across TikTok, captivating users with its colorful spectacle and playful antics. Dubbed the “slushie trend,” this latest craze sees netizens making a splash as they head to gas stations or 7-Eleven outlets, not for a refreshing beverage, but for a large, colorful drink destined for a unique fate.

At the heart of the trend lies a simple yet visually striking act: individuals purchasing large, colorful slushie drinks, only to promptly toss them onto their trucks. These videos, set to the tune of Bag Season by Jay Lewis and Da Real Gee Money, have become a staple on the platform, drawing viewers into the world of modified trucks known as Bubba Trucks.

The trend’s popularity skyrocketed in January 2024, with credit for its inception attributed to TikTok user @brett.michaels, as reported by Pop Buzz. While not all participants own a Bubba Truck, these modified four-wheelers with oversized tires or booming exhausts have become synonymous with the trend’s aesthetic.

Videos typically feature individuals theatrically exiting gas stations, slushie in hand, before launching the colorful concoction onto their trucks’ windshields. The remainder of the footage often showcases the trucks’ impressive features, from rims to tires, in a spectacle of automotive pride.

However, the trend has not been without controversy. Some users have expanded the scope of the trend beyond Bubba Trucks, tossing slushies at various vehicles or even unsuspecting bystanders as a prank. This has prompted concerns about wastefulness and vandalism, with some gas stations reportedly posting signs urging patrons to refrain from participating in the trend on their premises due to cleanup concerns.

While opinions on the slushie trend remain divided, there’s no denying its impact on social media culture. Whether viewed as a celebration of automotive pride or criticized as frivolous waste, the trend continues to capture the imagination of TikTok users worldwide.
