Hollywood heavyweight Brad Pitt is in discussions to headline Quentin Tarantino’s final cinematic endeavor, The Movie Critic, as reported by Deadline. This potential collaboration marks their fourth partnership, following their successful ventures in True Romance, Inglourious Basterds, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which earned Pitt his inaugural Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

Tarantino, known for his accolades and distinctive style, has lauded Pitt as “one of the last remaining big-screen movie stars.” The Movie Critic is set in 1977 Los Angeles and follows a critic working for the fictional magazine ‘The Popstar Pages’. The film draws inspiration from a real but relatively unknown figure who wrote movie reviews for an unconventional publication.

Known for his gritty and provocative storytelling, Tarantino declared The Movie Critic as his tenth and final feature, following the global success of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which grossed a staggering $377 million.

While Pitt’s involvement is yet to be confirmed due to his busy schedule, the actor is currently engaged in an Apple-produced Formula One racing movie and another F1 film with Javier Bardem and Damson Idris. Additionally, he is set to star alongside George Clooney in the Apple thriller Wolfs and has recently featured in titles like the action-packed Bullet Train and the showbiz drama Babylon. Tarantino has specific criteria in mind, desiring a “new leading man” around 35 years old, describing the character as “cynical as hell” and comparing his reviews to a blend of early Howard Stern and a film critic version of Travis Bickle.

Filming for The Movie Critic is anticipated to commence either by the end of this year or in early 2025.
