Ryan Gosling stole the spotlight at Sunday night’s Critics’ Choice Awards. The actor’s stunned reaction to the Best Song win for ‘I’m Just Ken’ from the Barbie soundtrack quickly became a viral sensation, leaving fans in stitches.

Gosling’s Ken character in Barbie belts out the ballad, pondering why he can’t seem to win Barbie’s heart. The song, crafted by the talented duo Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, has become a sensation with over 70 million Spotify streams and 3 million YouTube views. Despite its success, Gosling’s genuine shock at the award adds a touch of humor to the celebration.

Competing against other tracks from the Barbie soundtrack, including Dua Lipa’s ‘Dance the Night’ and Billie Eilish’s ‘What Was I Made For?’ (which won a Golden Globe), ‘I’m Just Ken’ emerged victorious, capturing Gosling’s bewildered expression on camera.

During Ronson and Wyatt’s acceptance speech, Ronson acknowledged Gosling, proclaiming, “Ryan Gosling, this is as much your award as ours. You made the audience fall in love with this song with your matchless performance, so thank you.”

Another notable moment came when Gosling’s Barbie co-star, America Ferrera, received the SeeHer Award for her advocacy for gender equality and authentic portrayals in the industry. In her speech, Ferrera thanked Gosling and other male colleagues for supporting women’s work, dubbing them “more than ‘Kenough.'”

The heartening speech left Gosling visibly moved, capturing the audience’s attention and prompting social media celebrations of his genuine reactions.

Barbie swept the awards, securing six wins, including Best Comedy, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Production Design. For those who haven’t experienced the Barbie magic, the film is now streaming on Max.
