According to Variety, a group of Marvel creatives came together to discuss some business after Phase 4 was not that well received by the audiences. Marvel studio chief Kevin Feige as well as others reportedly planned to solve the Phase 4 crisis which also affected many recent and upcoming MCU movies as well as TV shows.

Marvel Studios which kicked off the MCU in the year 2008 with Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man has enjoyed good popularity, giving hit after hit. The Studios earned big in the year 2018 and 2019 with Avengers: Infinity War as well as Avengers: Endgame. However, after the studio spread its wings into Multiverse Saga and long-form entertainment on Disney+, they have faced a series of disappointments and problems.

The series of disappointments on-screen made everyone at the studio anxious and a legal scandal involving Jonathan Majors, one of its biggest and established stars became a big pressing issue.

Jonathan Majors’s Kang the Conqurer was introduced in the MCU in the 2023 film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The actor has been poised to carry the next phase but his recent legal battle put his MCU future in jeopardy. It was revealed that Marvel Studios planned to move away from the actor after Ant-Man 3 and Kang The Conqueror was almost replaced with Doctor Doom.

Another shocking path that Marvel was considering for its revival was bringing back the Original Avengers including Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, and Captain America. The plan likely included bringing Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow back from the dead.

Meanwhile, MCU’s next theatrical release, The Marvels was revealed to go through four weeks of reshoots as well as director trouble. Starring Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani the film is releasing in theatres on November 10, 2023.

Reports also suggest that Marvel Studios has begun to speak with X-Men writers and a X-Men movie is expected in Phase 7 of the MCU. Meanwhile, the outlet also pointed out VFX and behind-the-scenes problems on Disney+ released series WandaVision and She-Hulk.

Upcoming Phase 5 projects in the MCU include The Marvels, Echo, Deadpool 3, Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Blade, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, Daredevil: Born Again, and Ironheart.
