This innovative feature, introduced earlier this month, empowers users to conduct searches effortlessly from any location on their mobile device by employing gestures such as circling, highlighting, scribbling, or tapping.

To utilize the Circle to Search function on the Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro, simply perform a long press on the navigation bar located at the bottom of the screen. This action will cause the phone to capture the current image displayed, allowing you to draw or scribble around a product or object for a visual lookup using Google.
Additionally, you have the option to highlight text and initiate a Google search through a popup. It is worth noting that the Circle to Search feature will not only be available on the latest Pixel 8 series and the Galaxy S24 series, but also on “select premium Android smartphones” as announced by the company. This suggests that support for this feature will soon be offered by other smartphone manufacturers.
Circle to Search offers a convenient way to search for definitions of words or phrases without leaving your current app. For instance, let’s say you come across the term “prebiotic” while watching a video and you’re unsure of its meaning or how it differs from “probiotic.”
Previously, you would have had to exit the app and open your browser to search for the word. However, with Circle to Search, you can simply long-press the home button or navigation bar, activate the feature, and highlight “prebiotic” to learn more about it.
Circle to Search is now rolling out to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro!
You won’t get a notice that it’s there, so just check by performing the gesture. Lots of Pixel 8 users on Reddit are reporting that it’s working for them now. https://t.co/KU4Pw3ipgW

Once you’re done, you can easily swipe away and continue watching the video. This feature allows you to access search functionality from any app, eliminating the need to interrupt your current task and switch to a browser.
Additionally, if you’re in the habit of taking screenshots to remind yourself to search for something later, Circle to Search eliminates that step as you can search immediately without any interruptions.
