Since the end of the most popular series, Friends, in 2004, fans of the show have been theorising about varied aspects of the characters’ lives.
The show follows six friends—Monica, Rachel, Ross, Joey, Chandler and Phoebe—as they grow up in New York.

But within this group, Phoebe seemed the more different one, with people imagining a much darker version of her story. For instance, an individual on Twitter said that the show may take place in Phoebe’s head this entire time. Another said that she may have been watching her friends from the sidewalk of the cafe.
Much of this theory stems from Pheobe’s personality. While she is intelligent and can speak multiple languages, she never uses it Except, for her song. One such masterpiece by her was Smelly Cat. However, back then, people mostly saw her as simply a woman who had a bohemian lifestyle.
But it’s also a theory that both fans and the series’s co-creator, Marta Kauffman, do not like. The show may not have a larger meaning behind it, but people still go back to it as it seems plausible. While she is a character for comic relief, her background is quite traumatic. While her friends are unique in their way, Phoebe’s songs, and Regina, her alter ego, set her apart from the rest.

To give an idea, her mother died by suicide, and her formative years were spent on the streets. She also believes in superstitions, which is a concern for her friends, and uses this method to be in touch with her dead relative. Her jokes were about stabbing a cop (who stabbed her first), a patient chasing her at a mental institution, and a pimp giving her hepatitis. She even said she has connections with the underworld, which hints that she has a lengthy criminal record.
Do you know about that theory about Phoebe?

Since not much was revealed about Phoebe’s past life, except a few jokes, you can see why fans came to such a conclusion. Some even believe that she never managed to turn her life around and that trauma led her to make up much of her life in her head. t can even shed light on elements like expensive apartments in the early 20s in New York and poking Ugly Naked Guy with a stick across their building.

Moreover, many details are inconsistent in the series, which could reveal that it was all in her head. For instance, her age is unclear or how she befriended such different people. We only know that she shared an apartment with Monica before Rachel came to live with the former.
Although the theory is so different, it does, however, make sense and is entertaining for many. People who enjoy darker stories can stick to this theory, whereas others who like lighter comedy, will fight over Ross and Rachel’s ‘we were on a break’ theory.
