In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Echo star Vincent D’Onofrio has opened up about his MCU journey as the supervillain Kingpin and his political aspiration.

Vincent D’Onofrio recently reprised his fan-favorite role of Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin in the Disney+ miniseries Echo. However, this is certainly not the end of his MCU journey and character as he is already scheduled to appear in the upcoming MCU series Daredevil: Born Again.

Spoiler alert: The post-credit scenes of Echo indicated Kingpin’s next move in the MCU, hinting at his political aspirations. At the end of Echo, Alaqua Cox’s Maya utilizes the powers of her Choctaw ancestors and tries to heal Kingpin.

Fans were in awe of the scene and excited to find Kingpin’s next move. “I don’t think he’s changed; I think he’s enlightened,” Vincent D’Onofrio explained. “I haven’t seen a lot of the episodes of Echo,” the actor continued. “So, in my mind, after everything goes down with Maya, he gets on a plane,” D’Onofrio added, “and … by the end of that flight, he decides, ‘If I want to be all powerful, this is what I’m going to do’,” he teased Kingpin’s political move after the end-credit scene showed Fisk’s interest in running for mayor.

The American actor and filmmaker revealed that thanked Marvel boss Kevin Feige for bringing Loki and Moon Knight directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead for the much-awaited Daredevil: Born Again reboot.

“I’m a huge fan of those guys,” the 64-year-old actor said in the interview. “I talk to them all the time now. When I heard that [the two were joining Born Again], I was like, ‘OK, not only are we switching things up, but the bosses are doing the right thing for us’,” D’Onofrio shared. “They’ve given us their hottest talent, and that’s pretty cool. So the first thing I did was thank them,” he continued, “I thanked Kevin for doing that and sticking with Charlie and I. It’s a pretty amazing thing.”

Daredevil: Born Again, starring Charlie Cox as Daredevil is expected to release on Disney+ this year.
