This remarkable translucent structure, offering a 360-degree view, played a central role in Expo 2020 Dubai and remains the heart of Expo City Dubai, a thriving residential and commercial development in Dubai South.

Expo City Dubai has unveiled a calendar of exciting events to celebrate this achievement. Among the offerings are a new café serving Arabic fusion cuisine, cultural festivals, and interactive experiences with the dome accessible via mobile phones.

Alwaleed Osman, the official adjudicator at Guinness World Records, said, “Al Wasl Plaza stands as a testament to architectural excellence and a distinguished structure that resonates with those who have had the privilege of experiencing it.”

“Its recognition in Guinness World Records underscores the commitment of Expo 2020, and the subsequent Expo City Dubai, to innovation and excellence,” he added.

Amna Abulhoul, the executive creative director for events and entertainment at Expo City Dubai, emphasized the dome’s role in bringing people together.

Speaking about this, she said, “From interactive augmented reality and a tribute to legendary explorer Ibn Battuta, to the launch of a sustainable cafe and the return of our popular Winter City and Hai Ramadan festivities, our upcoming offerings cement our city as a hub of creativity, innovation and well-being.”

Upcoming events include a musical performance highlighting Greenland’s melting ice sheets, the Dubai Calligraphy Biennale, and the hosting of Cop28 in November, a global climate summit. The dome will be open to the public during Cop28’s green zone.

After Cop28, an Artificial Intelligence Film Festival will take place, followed by the Winter City celebrations from December 8 to January 7.

The calendar for the following year is also packed with events, including Break the Block, an electronic dance music festival called Untold, and Hai Ramadan, honouring the Holy Month.

Additionally, fitness enthusiasts can look forward to the Dubai Half Marathon on February 4 and the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge on February 24-25, starting from Expo City Dubai.
