After what seems like awaiting an eternity, Disney and Marvel Studios have finally revealed the first trailer of Deadpool & Wolverine. Ryan Renolds and Hugh Jackman return to their respective roles of Merc with a Mouth and Wolverine after several years, leaving fans ecstatic.

The anticipated trailer opens up with Wade Wilson’s birthday, followed by a version of the Time Variance Authority asking him to join them. Soon after, what you see is a series of time-travel antics, which is a fitting plot considering the ending of the previous film. Without further ado, here’s a look at all the references and Easter eggs in the Marvel film.

Task Force X and Vanessa

The trailer showcases scenes that include characters from the previous films. The scene portrays Vanessa, Wade’s wife, and his former team, despite being killed in Deadpool 2. This, thus, proves that Wade’s travelling in time worked in his favour, and that is what gets him on TVA’s radar.

Recreating from first movie

Towards the conclusion of the trailer, Wade throws his hand up after he is surrounded by TVA Agents. The scene is similar to Wade’s first film when Deadpool reveals why he wears the red suit (as it hides its bleeding from the bad guy). Wade may be recreating a similar environment with TVA’s Minute Men.

MCU movie reference

Matthew Macfadyen portrays Mr Paradox in the trailer, allowing Wade a chance to be a hero’s hero. The monitor at TVA, thus, includes scenes from previous MCU films. This includes projects such as Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor: Ragnarok, and Captain America: Winter Soldier. When the latter appears on the screen, Wade Salutes Steve Rogers. Known as Star Spangled Man with a Plan in the comics, this respect comes from Wade’s love for Rogers.

SHIELD’s Helicarrier

In one of the scenes of wasteland, we notice SHIELD Helicarriers. Fans speculate that this could be the Void at the End of Time, first seen in Loki.

Comic book

In one of the scenes, where Deadpool is lying inside the Void, we notice a tattered comic book. The cover is similar to 2015’s Secret Wars crossover, which could be a hint at how Deadpool & Wolverine will help to start Avengers: Secret Wars, set to release in 2027.

Doctor Doom

The scene in the Void also showcases clips of a masked stranger, who appears like an earlier version of Doctor Doom, the nemesis of the Fantastic Four. But, there are suspicions that the man could be a scavenger. The device in his hand, however, makes one wonder if it is Victor von Doom himself.

Wolverine

There are two scenes of Wolverine. One is where he is at a bar, wearing his white “Patch” tuxedo from the comics. Then, at the end of the trailer, there is another version of him wearing his famed yellow suit. He may be a variant from Fox’s X-Men franchise, Earth-838 from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a live-action version of X-Men: The Animated Series, or an entirely new reality in the MCU.

Cassandra Nova

In a somewhat anticipated disclosure, a sneak peek has confirmed the villain for the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film: the X-Men character Cassandra Nova. This revelation suggests that Cassandra Nova could play a crucial role in Wade Wilson’s mission sponsored by the TVA within The Void.

20th Century Fox Logo

The broken, dusty logo hints that perhaps, the studio was pruned by the TVA, especially if the Void is the End of Time.

Pyro

In the same desolate wastelands, fans were thrilled to see actor Aaron Stanford reprising his role as Pyro, a character first introduced in “X2” and “X-Men: The Last Stand.” This exciting return serves as a significant hint that Deadpool and Logan could potentially unite to confront a version of Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants in the Void at the end of Time.
