Bollywood’s renowned director, producer, and talk show host, Karan Johar, is all set for the release of his latest edition Koffee with Karan. Premiering on Thursday, the first guest of the much-awaited show is stars and real-life couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. While the line-up has many more names, audiences have been wondering about one celeb the most, the one and only, Shahrukh Khan.
In an exclusive masterclass with Pinkvilla, My Name Is Khan’s director opened up about the star’s appearance. “With all due respect, he is there but I don’t think he wants to be in the forefront and speak. I think he deserves his silence. As fans and filmmakers, we should give him that,” he explained about the star’s absence from the Koffee with Karan.
It must be noted that SRK and KJO have worked for decades together on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kal Ho Na Ho, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, and Dear Zindagi, to name a few. Thus, their bond as friends is very admirable. Naturally, when KJO came up with his talk show, SRK was one of the few people who showed his support. His appearance, over the years, on Koffee with Karan has been the talk of the town. Since the star has returned to the limelight after almost four years, and following the drug trial of his son, people want to hear more from him.

The director further elaborated on making another film with SRK and KJO and highlighted the gender issue in his film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Speaking about the incident, he says Shabana Azmi called him and asked ‘just because she grew her hair (Kajol’s character), he falls in love with her. To this, KJO apologised, saying he was sorry. He even spoke about working with Kartik Aaryan on another film, saying, “We almost made a film. But you never say never. I am sure the future holds something very strong for both of us. I hope we collaborate on a film soon we both are excited about.”
Earlier, Karan revealed his plans for Dulhania 3 and also said that he is in talks with Salman Khan for another film. However, the latter’s announcement will be made when the time is right.
