Without directly naming Khan’s movies, Agnihotri criticized them, stating that he found them “very superficial.” He expressed his belief that Khan is capable of delivering better content and questioned the portrayal of these films as the standard of filmmaking, suggesting it may be driven by sycophancy.
Agnihotri’s candid remarks about Khan’s recent cinematic offerings have not gone unnoticed. He acknowledged that Shah Rukh Khan’s fans have previously targeted him on social media platforms in response to his opinions.
Shah Rukh Khan’s film Jawan, released on September 7, has been a resounding success, currently in its third week at the box office. The film has posed stiff competition to other new releases, including Vivek Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War, released on September 28.
It’s worth noting that Vivek Agnihotri had previously praised Jawan on Twitter, predicting that it would become an all-time blockbuster. He clarified that he wasn’t interested in the Bollywood game of clashes and emphasized that his film, The Vaccine War, focuses on a different subject altogether.
