Apple is reportedly engaged in the development of an in-house custom battery design, with the aim of enhancing the battery life of its products by altering the composition of the batteries.

ET News, a South Korean news publication, reveals that these speculated battery technology advancements are not anticipated to be incorporated into Apple’s products for the next few years, indicating that the progress in the development of these alleged battery enhancements is not yet at an advanced stage.
Apple is said to be actively engaged in the development of an enhanced battery technology for its upcoming products.
The company is directly involved in the entire process, starting from the design of the new technology, including the cathode and other essential components and materials, to the exploration of alternative materials for enhanced performance.
According to the report, Apple is contemplating the adoption of a novel composition for the cathode material, as well as the utilization of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as a conductive material. These advancements have the potential to significantly enhance the performance of Apple’s existing battery components.

Meanwhile, the expenses incurred in manufacturing the iPhone 15 are notably greater than those of its predecessors, the iPhone 14 models. This rise in production costs is primarily attributed to the exorbitant prices of the components utilized in the iPhone 15. As per a Nikkei Asia report, there are speculations that Apple may transfer these augmented costs to consumers in the year 2024.
Between 2018 and 2021, the expenses associated with the components utilized in Apple’s “Pro Max” models fluctuated between $400 and $450. Nevertheless, in 2022, the prices of these components surged by approximately 20%, ultimately reaching an all-time high of $558.
In comparison to its predecessor, the previous model, the cost of the telephoto camera in the iPhone 15 Pro Max has skyrocketed by 380%, now amounting to $30. Similarly, the titanium frame now carries a price tag of $50, signifying a 43% increase when compared to the stainless steel frame employed in earlier devices.
The A17 Pro chip, responsible for powering the iPhone 15 Pro Max, is currently valued at $130, exhibiting a 27% escalation in price compared to the A16 Bionic chip.
