
I stumbled throughout this 2010 Chicago Tribune article titled “10 worst restaurant names within the nation,” and it didn’t disappoint. Names embody Casa Mono, Rat’s Restaurant, Crapitto’s Cuccina Italiana, and my private pet peeve, Ruth’s Chris Steak Home.

Ruth’s Chris Steak Home, nationwide chain, 131 places. Ruth Fertel bought a New Orleans restaurant, Chris Steak Home. The contract stipulated that she could not transfer it and maintain the title. When the unique burned down, she moved 4 blocks away and slapped her personal title — awkwardly, a spokeswoman admits — on an already awful title.
WD-50, New York Metropolis. It isn’t a reference to a well known lubricant (although WD-50 has been threatened with a lawsuit over the similarity). Its chef Wylie Dufresne’s initials and the deal with, 50 Clinton St.
